The Musquodoboit Harbour& District Lions Club
Annual Chicken Barbeque

(In support of The Musquodoboit Harbour Railway Museum)

The Chicken Barbeque has been a major fundraiser for the Lions Club since 1984. It has become a much anticipated event in our community, held annually on the site of the Railway Museum in the village center.

Each year we barbeque approximately 450-500 chicken halves, serve 38 doz. donuts and 38 doz. buns. We use 240 lbs. of charcoal and 600 ft. of aluminum foil.

The barbeque realises a net profit of $1800.00- $2000.00 and lions donated approximately 150 man hours of their time.

The next Chicken Barbeque will be chaired by Nathan Crewe and will take place on August 29, 2004.

The 18th. Annual Chicken BBQ was held at the Railway Museum on August 25th. 2002.
The rain stopped at 9:00 a.m. and held off until 6:00 p.m., allowing 28 Lions plus Museum workers to BBQ 450 pieces of chicken.

The tremendous support of our Lions Club Members and the general public are responsible for the success of this project. Twenty eight Lions donated a total of 110 hours and realized a net profit of $1851.17.  In accordance with our tradition, this net profit was split 80% in support of the Musquodoboit Harbour Railway Museum and 20% to other lions causes.
