Lions Cribbage

"Fifteen two, fifteen four & one for his knob"
Quote from the Olde Cock Inn - Didsbury, Manchester, England

Oak and brass board in the form of a book  (8" x 5.25") dates to the 1870s.

The weekly cribbage games are held from the beginning of October until the middle of May. We average approximately 30 players each time and each year we raise over $1500.00.

There are over 400 volunteer hours involved in this project. Thanks to all those who give of their time and to Lion Eldon who chairs this fundraiser. The money will be put to good use!

News Item:

On Thursday, April 7, 2005, Kevin Myers had a perfect hand at the Lions Club weekly crib night.

Question:
What are the odds for a perfect hand in cribbage, and what is the total number of different hands possible in cribbage?

Answer:
The odds for a perfect hand are "once in a million games." (Sheboygan Press, July 20, 1976), and the total number of different hands possible in cribbage is 2,598,960 (Manitowoc Public Library)

Congratulations, Kevin.

Here is the perfect cribbage hand and the points.
You just switch the jack and the matching 5 of the cut to get the 4 possible perfect cribbage best hands.
If the cut does not match the jack or you have a 10 value card instead of the jack, then you have 28 points only instead of the best cribbage hand.

Your hand is and the cut is  to match the jack.

The count is :

8 times 15 for 2 = 16 points

6 pairs for 2 = 12 points

1 for the matching jack = 1 point

Total -  16+12+1= 29 points

Congratulations on getting a perfect cribbage best hand.
